When I think of my dad, the first image that pops into my mind is one of a superhero— nope, I mean, my one and only super-dad. He’s a strong one, selfless, independent, deep thinker and dedicated hero who always puts my needs (and others) before his own. While others may see him as a lovely one and unwavering figure, I know there’s a human side to him. A man who puts on a brave face, even when he’s going through difficult times himself. And while I know that he tries to protect me at all costs, I also see the scars that lie underneath. The late nights, the long hours, the sacrifices he’s made — these are the scars of a true superhero.

And yet, through it all, no matter how hard things are, he's always there, wearing a smile on his face and giving me the love and support I need to carry on.

He's a father, a best friend, and a superhero all rolled into one.

I’ve learned so much from him, starting with the simple one til the important one. He always encouraging me to keep on going, even when things get tough. And I remember when he told me about;

  • “To fight our own feeling will NEVER be easy but we HAVE TO try. Let’s stay positive."
  • "I just wanna remind you to slow down for awhile. When everything was in a rush and you feel like you were forced to be here and there, like literally everywhere… don’t forget about yourself who’s definitely need a breath of a fresh air too."

His words have stuck with me, and they remind me that it’s important to take care of myself first, my mind and my mental wellbeing too. And even through the most difficult times, there’s always something I can learn and grow from.

On this special day, I want to take a moment to show my appreciation for the man behind the mask, the real hero in my life, Papi Gideon.

Papi, selamat hari Ayah.

Papi, words cannot express just how much you mean to me. Thank you for showing me what a true father figure looks like, and for always being there for me, even when life gets hard. I’m so proud to be your daughter, and I’ll always carry the lessons you’ve taught me in my heart.

Terima kasih banyak. Adek loves Papi. Sekali lagi, selamat hari Ayah, Papi sayang.

With love,

Aurora Lowell.
